“I Hate Facebook Timeline” Phishing Scam Targets User Credentials

new facebook scam
Facebook Timeline removal scams are not new, but this time cybercrooks took it up a notch and launched a phishing campaign that relies on the fact that some users are outright desperate to remove the newly introduced feature.
In reality, the Timeline is here to stay and like it or not everyone who still wants to use Facebook will have to accommodate to the change.
However, until all Facebook users get accustomed to this idea, phishers and other scammers will keep making shady sites that either want just a few Likes or, in some cases, the user’s entire profile.
Bitdefender experts came across a Facebook community page called “I Hate Faceb0ok Timeline”. After providing a number of arguments which should demonstrate the evil that hides behind the Timeline, the page’s creators request a Like from the visitor.
Once the victim Likes the page, he/she is taken to a site that shamelessly asks for the member’s name, email address and password (the ones used to log on to Facebook).
By providing these details, the unsuspecting Timeline-hater is actually handing over his/her account to the crooks.
Many may be asking themselves “What do crooks do with my Facebook account?”
Well, lately Facebook accounts have become highly valuable. Scams launched from phony accounts aren’t as successful as ones launched from the legitimate account of an individual who has a large number of friends.
Scam awareness-raising campaigns have partially paid off and many people are already conscious that a piece of malware can end up on their computers if they install a so-called Flash Player codec that’s needed to view an outrageous video.
This is why the scammers have started leveraging the trust factor that exists between social media friends. There’s nothing like a bit of social engineering to ensure the success of a malicious plot.

How To Remove Bloatware Out Of Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000

This tutorial will help you on removing the bloatware out of Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000.
When Samsung released this Android device many have doubt of its success. That’s because it is some sort of a mix between a smartphone and a tablet. I mean, it is not too big to be called a smartphone but too small to be fitted in the tablets class. Its screen size is 5.3 inches and, that’s why everybody was retained in acclaiming its success. However, now it looks like Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 has registered excellent sales numbers.
Therefore, this device has been receiving a lot of attention from different developers, too. We showed you in December how to root Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 and now we thought that it is time to teach you how to remove the bloatware with which this device is coming out of the box.
For those which are not yet familiar with the ‘bloatware’ term, you should know that this refers to those applications and utilities which the manufacturer of the device is installing them by default. Many of these apps are not really necessary and some users would like to delete them. Therefore, hey are generally called bloatware.
You don’t have to worry about those applications which came by default in your Android device and you would like to keep, because they are useful for you. This bloatware removal tutorial comes with the possibility of selecting the things that need to disappear, kkeping in this way those ones that are really necessary.
We will be using today a script that has been designed by one of the XDA Forum members (goddamnit). After this bloatware removal tutorial your Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 should work faster and become more stable.

How to remove bloatware from Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000
How to remove bloatware from Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000
We will be posting below the link for the XDA Forum thread in which the above mentioned user is describing the procedure with which you can remove the bloatware out of your Android smartphone (or tablet).
Even if your first impression, after reading this thread, will not be not so optimistic, we can assure you that the procedure is really simple and we will help you to get through it.
The short description of the ‘how to remove the bloatware out of Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000’ process should look like this:
-          first you will execute the following app: lite-rom_creator.exe;
-          you will be provided with a list that contains all your applications. Here you need to select those applications that have been installed by default in your Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, and you want them to disappear.
-          the script which you have just customized needs to be exported in .txt format;
-          place the new .txt file in the root of your SD card;
-          a terminal applications needs now to be opened and the .txt file from the root of your SD card should be selected.
-          once the script performs its action, the bloatware will be removed from your device. After restart, your Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 should run better and become more stable, because it doesn’t have to load all sort of useless applications in its boot phase.
Note that the above described application (Lite ROM Creator) works just on Windows platform. IF you are using another kind of OS, you should install first a virtual machine, in which this app should be opened.
As mentioned above, the bloatware can be considered a kind of a brake in any type of device. That’s because an OS will tend to load them at start-up and run them in background, even if they are not used. Therefore, we recommend you always remove these un-necessary applications, no matter what kind of device or OS are you using.
Access the XDA Thread for more details on how to remove the bloatware out of Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000. If you have questions on this tutorial, you can post them here, by using the below mentioned comment form.
